The Bay Area Nature Almanac is produced by science journalist and California Naturalist (in training) Nate Seltenrich. It is published every Thursday both here and on Instagram. Subscribe via Substack to receive weekly emails about seasonal phenomena in the natural world, plus hike and outing recommendations for the entire Bay Area.

Paid subscribers receive a bonus monthly audio conversation grounded in the season with a Bay Area scientist, field researcher, or longtime observer, as well as access to the full archive (posts are free for three weeks).
